| Floreana Island is the least populated
of the Galapagos Islands, with a total of only 150 inhabitants living
mainly in Puerto Velasco Ibarra. This island is well-known for its
historical background related to the Baroness and her disparition
in the 1930s with her lovers. Located in Puerto Velasco Ibarra, the
Red Mangrove Lava Lodge Hotel is built entirely of pine wood from
the mainland. The lodge is situated in front of the ocean on a black
lava field. Ten independent cabins equipped with one full-size bed
and a bunk bed can host up to four people each. Every cabin has its
own bathroom, front porch, and reading and shade area to allow guests
privacy and enjoyment of the outdoors as one observes the sea. The
lodge's dining room/grill kitchen is the one common area for visitors
to relax and meet other guests. The location of the hotel is five
minutes away from the main part of town, and three minutes walking
distance to the 'loberia' where sea lions can be observed in their
natural environment. Hotel amenities include an American breakfast,
snack bar and laundry. Room amenities include reading lamps, clock
radio, hot water, night tables, and comfortable beds with imported
sheets. |
