Sur's 22 rooms are spacious and have spectacular views over the Ultima
Esperanza Bay and the Balmaceda Glacier. The hotel's aesthetic concept
has predominance over luxury, using in its construction and decoration
materials which are characteristic of the Patagonian landscape. Roofs
are covered with lawns and flowers on different levels, giving the
visitor the feeling that the hotel is part of the hillside. The outside
walls are covered with turf which gives an organic look to the construction
and provides it with extra insulation, contributing at the same time
to gently blend the hotel building with its surroundings. In the interior,
noble woods of the region, glass, bricks, stone, concrete and brute
steel are the predominant materials, all of them enhancing the sensation
of simplicity. Hotel amenities include a restaurant, cafeteria, bar,
laundry, internet service, parking lot, and central heating. All of
these characteristics, combined with highly personalized attention,
make guests feel quite at home while at the same time enjoying one
of the most remote regions of the world. |
