Extend your vacation to Peru by adding a tour to the north of Peru to see the renowned archaeological discoveries at the tomb of Lord of Sipan or south of Lima to the Plains of Nazca. Also, be sure to check out EcoAdventures' extensions to the Peruvian Rainforests of Iquitos or Puerto Maldonado.

Itinerary

Day One: Arrive Lima Start your adventure into the Land of the Incas. Transfer to your selected hotel.

Day Two: In Lima Enjoy a tour of the modern and colonial highlights of Lima, the City of Kings, followed by a visit to the world famous Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology, which will enhance your appreciation of pre-Inca and Inca cultures. (B) Peruvian folk dancers (left).
Day Three: Lima to Cuzco Early wake-up call and transfer to the airport for your one-hour flight to Cuzco. Remainder of the day at leisure to acclimate to an altitude of over 11,000 feet! (B)
Day Four: Machu Picchu Overnight A special adventure begins. Depart by train* and journey back into the mists of time, arriving at the foot of Machu Picchu. Mini-buses follow a serpentine road (below, right) to the heights of the ruins. Follow a serpentine road to the heights of the ruins.Take a walking tour with your expert guide and a small group. You and the lucky few who will spend the night here will have a few more hours to explore the site after the crowds have returned to Cuzco. Those who select the Deluxe or Deluxe Plus category hotels will enjoy an additional dinner. The Sanctuary Lodge (Deluxe Plus) is located just outside the gate to Machu Picchu at the top of the mountain. The other hotels are located in the quaint village of Aguas Calientes at the base of the ruins. (B, L)

Day Five: Machu Picchu to Cuzco Continue to explore Machu Picchu before winding back down the mountain by bus to catch your afternoon train for Cuzco. NOTE: Transfers from Aguas Calientes to/from Machu Picchu and entrance fees are NOT included this day. (B)
Day Six: In Cuzco This afternoon you board a motorcoach for a tour of Colonial Cuzco, including the Temple of the Sun, Cathedral and Plaza de Armas. Next, ascend the hills surrounding Cuzco to visit the Inca ruins of K'Kenko, Pucapucara, Tambo Machay and the great stone fortress of Sacsayhuaman. (B)
Day Seven: Cuzco to Lima Morning transfer to the airport, bus or train station for the continuation of your trip. (B) NOTE: Click here to extend your tour to Lake Titicaca and Bolivia.
